Peaceably, on August 31, 2015 Ronald J Gardin of Oaklandon passed into the Lord’s hands. Ron was born May 22, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Swedish immigrants Gosta and Elsa Gardin. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; sister Lily Nichols; brothers Roy and Kent. Ron is survived by his North Judson/San Pierre High School sweetheart and wife of 60 years Sue (McCormick); daughters Dawn (David) Bauman, Michelle (Josue) Escalante; sons Jeffrey (Marc) Gardin-Bailey and Eric; grandchildren, Christopher, Christina and Eric; sisters Judith Weitgenant and Inger Friend; brothers Guy and David; their spouses; in-laws; and 30 nieces and nephews. Ron was a medical Corpsman in the US Navy. He attended Ball State and Purdue Calumet University where he completed his Masters of Education. He worked for 35 years as a librarian and teacher in Valparaiso, Indiana. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A gathering at 11:00 AM and Memorial Service at Noon will be held Friday, September 4, 2015 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 8115 Oaklandon Road, Indianapolis.
